Our History
Three Generations, One Goal: Your Success.
For over six decades, United Leasing & Finance has been a family-owned company built on integrity, innovation, and long-term relationships.

1960s
In 1964, Robert Romain, Sr. founded United Automobile Leasing, Inc., an auto retail and vehicle leasing operation, in Evansville, Indiana — the first business in the Evansville area to offer leasing options to business customers. We quickly expanded and, in 1966, added a daily car rental company, United Rent-A-Car.

1970s
United Leasing, Inc. built and moved into its current corporate headquarters on Morgan Avenue in Evansville, Indiana. We continued expanding our scope of business with specialized services to the blasting and mining industries.

1980s
United Leasing, Inc. acquired ULF, Inc. in Kentucky along with the Trans Leasing portfolio, expanding our reach and market in the leasing sector. We grew our approach with specialized services in new industries, including hotel and airport transportation, funeral vehicles, medical equipment, and government contracts.

1990s
United Rent-A-Car continued to grow, with our employee count reaching 1,200. We added a total of 24 locations across Indiana, Kentucky, Illinois, and Texas before being sold in 1998.

2000s
United Leasing & Finance moved heavily into leasing and financing for the fitness industry, building specialized programs for some of the biggest fitness franchise brands. We were also awarded a U.S. Government GSA contract for vehicle leasing and created a department to service consumer loans in the HVAC industry.

2010s
In 2017, United acquired Access Commercial Capital, further growing our footprint in fleet management and vehicle financing. United Leasing & Finance continued to evolve into a multifaceted financial and fleet services organization with more than 3,000 corporate accounts.

2020s
Today, United Leasing & Finance has direct operations throughout the U.S. and Canada and manages assets in all 50 states, Canada, and Mexico. In 2024, we celebrated United's 60th anniversary, ushering forward the next phase of growth and development for our customers.
